Please excuse the mess. I'm in the process of moving to a new server and new blogging software. It'll be a while before this place gets to be looking like normal again.

This was the majority of my drive into work today. It would have been really pretty if I could see more than the outline of the car infront of me.

And then we leave on our cruise! I'm so excited!

Last weekend we managed to up our outside light quota significantly mostly with lights we found in the basement. At some point I'll have to get a new picture up. My cousin John suggested a spotlight with wreaths in the windows -- which I think is on the list for next year (along with a polar bear or two if they can be found). A lot of houses in our neighborhood have done the wreaths this year and I think it looks really nice. John, I don't think I responded to your e-mail. Sorry about that, I think it's this baaaad case of vacationitis and finishing up the calendar!

Let's see, what else. Oh yeah, I started another blog. Like one wasn't enough. The second one is really just a place to post pictures of some of my work until I get around to designing a real website for myself.

That was our conclusion after driving around our neighborhood this evening. There are a lot of lights and they're very tastefully done. After our failed attempt at hanging icicle lights on our house (the ladder isn't tall enough to get the peak over the garage and the pitch of the roof is too steep to get it from above), we decided to skip the lights on the house this year until we could figure out if we were going to purchase a bigger ladder (we already have 3, no one needs that many ladders), rent one (apparently Home Depot even rents ladders), or develop magical powers between now an then to get them hung.

As we were driving around tonight, my dad said he was embarrassed to be living at a house with so few lights. So tomorrow, we're going to put some more up. I think we'll use the red and white strands from our railings at the last place in the trees out front, other than that we have no plans.

The great polar bear search has ended for the 2005 season in exchange for our 48" lighted wreath. For those of you unfamiliar with my great polar bear obsession, it all started last year when I saw a big and little polar bear in a yard down the street from us. We did find the big one last year, but without a real yard to put it in, it wasn't worth buying. This year, all the polar bears have scarfs -- not what I'm looking for. The hunt for the perfect lighted polar bear will resume next holiday season.

but not enough to get a late opening

The anticipation of the storm was once again greater than the actual storm. No day off for me. Not even a late opening. The worst part of the morning commute was cleaning off the car and then sun. Then refection of the sun off the wet roadways was quite blinding this morning. Betwen the sun and the sand and such being kicked up by the cars around me, visibility was not all that great. I probably went through half a tank of windshield wiper fluid trying to keep my windows clean.

I get to work and my account is locked out. Why? I dunno. The administrator had been on my computer last night. And some software had been uninstalled. grrrr. I've never worked at a place and had people get on my computer and do stuff without telling me what they were doing. The CEO was locked out too and kept asking me if I had gotten a hold of anyone. I finally did get a hold of the sys admin and he walked me through unlocking our computers. Ugh hmmm

On a completely un-related note. This page looks awful in some browsers. I appologize to those of you using IE. Especially since I added the Thanksgiving pictures, which put the side bar at the bottom after all the posts. I'll have to fix that. Probably next year, I have too much stuff to do before our cruise!

Cisco and Berkley got Christmas presents from Mom and Dad Gifford yesterday that said to be be opened immediately. Here they are modeling their new presents. I've decided Cisco takes after Chris and HATES having his picture taken -- he sat exactly like that for the almost 10 pictures I snapped. No emotion. Nothing. Hey, at least he sat!

Other than my wedding, I don't think we had had family pictures taken since I was 8 or 9. My friend Kerry of K & R Photography took pictures of us all this weekend. Here are a few of the rough proofs:
