We got the rest of the materials for the patio delivered today.
Here's what our driveway looked like when we got home:
Hopefully they'll finish before the weekend. Chris' car is now trapped in the garage behind the sand. Good thing we drive to work together.
The pictures aren't that great 'cause it just poured and is a little over cast. Plus I went to meet this guy after work so I got home late. Don't worry Chris, it's just Chris' friend who might have a job for me
Looking down our side yard:
From the side:
Where the carvings along the edge are, that's where the seating wall will go.
From the back:
And finally a close up:
Guess it doesn't have to be perfect when you've got stone going over top of it.
Looks like we might be ready for concrete. They have the form made, the gravel down, and the re-bar (sp?) in.
They're really good with covering the area with plastic:
This is what it looks like underneath the plastic:
And the emergence of what appears to be steps:
They started digging today. They didn't start the actual digging until 4:30 or so and it looks like it's going to be a lot of work. From the little they dug up there were a few bricks and some other construction debris (no wonder our yard is so uneven). Before they dug it out, they placed stakes around the perimeter and removed the grass. The rolled it up and put it aside. No pictures today since all you'd see is the area covered with a piece of plastic and a couple of wheelbarrows.
On a separate note, Cisco played fetch with the neighborhood kids this evening. They were all out front riding bikes and then the next thing I know they're all out back with us. They all wanted to throw the ball, so he got to play lots of fetch. He wouldn't drop the ball for any of them, which was probably a good thing since I was then able to hold his collar while they threw it to avoid him knocking anyone down. He also likes to give chase. When they run, he'll run along side them. Poor guy is really beat now. I had to promise the kids he would play with them again so I could get him inside.
They came this morning to lay out the patio. We'll call these the before pictures:
From the front of the house, you'll see a little bit of patio (this will have a 2 ft. high seating wall on it:
Here's a side view:
and a back view:
Oh and as you can see, they put the path in behind our house. The dogs like to bark at people who walk on the path
We're finally starting to hang some pictures. We used the set of frames we got as a wedding gift to display some our our wedding photos. It seems like a lot, but not many of them are really wedding-y.
Chris suggested adding a table under them.
I'm loving this one from Pottery Barn:
